How Lightning Roulette Works

How a round works

Players place bets on the normal roulette layout. When betting closes, lightning strikes one to five numbers and each is assigned a random multiplier between 50x and 500x. Only then is the ball spun, so the lucky numbers are not known while bets are being placed.

If the ball lands on a lucky number and you have a straight-up bet on it, that bet pays at the multiplier: a ₹100 straight-up bet on a number struck at 200x wins ₹20,000 plus the stake. If the ball lands on a number that was not struck, the straight-up bet pays 29:1, so the same ₹100 wins ₹2,900.

The multipliers apply only to straight-up bets on a single number. Split, street, corner and line bets pay the standard way even when one of their numbers is a lucky number. Outside bets such as dozens, columns, red or black, odd or even and high or low all settle as per the standard European roulette paytable.

What changes in the maths

In standard European roulette a straight-up bet has a 1 in 37 chance and pays 35:1, which gives the single-zero house edge of 2.70%. Cutting the ordinary payout to 29:1 funds the multipliers, which pay back most of that difference but not all of it. The result is a return of about 97.1% on straight-up bets, a house edge of roughly 2.9%, while the other bets keep the usual 2.70% edge.

The bigger change is in how results arrive. Most straight-up wins now pay 29:1, so a player backing single numbers collects less on an ordinary hit and depends on rare multiplier hits to make up the difference. Over a short session, results swing heavily on whether a struck number happens to land. The lucky numbers are chosen at random each round, and no pattern or system beats the house edge.
