Yes, there are many different strategies and we’ll cover the most popular methods here. While it’s important to note that roulette is a game of pure chance, there’s something to be said for sticking to a single strategy over a period of time to give yourself the best chance of profiting.

The Martingale Strategy

The Martingale strategy involves placing even-money outside bets each time. This means exclusively betting on 1:1 payouts (ie, you win the same money that you bet), so it confines you to only placing chips on a 1-18 group bet, a 19-36 group bet, or red, black, even or odd. You start out by placing a small bet on one of the options given above. So let’s say we choose to bet ₹10 on red. You will continue to bet on red until you lose. At that point, double the size of the bet on red to ₹20, which means you’ll recover your losses from the previous round if you win. But if you lose again, you again double the bet to ₹40 in the hope that this one will win, and so on. So, while it’s a good strategy for accumulating small wins over time, it has the potentially disastrous consequence of losing you a huge chunk of change if you hit a bad streak and lose it all.

The Grand Martingale

Very similar to the Martingale strategy laid out above. The only main difference is that instead of doubling your bets when you lose, you will chase bigger wins by doubling and adding another unit. So, instead of doubling up from ₹10 to ₹20, you will leap to ₹30. From there, instead of going from ₹30 to ₹60, you will increase your bet size to ₹70. After that, if you really hit a bad run of form, ₹70 will go to ₹150, ₹150 to ₹310 and so on and so forth. You get the idea!

The Paroli Method

Almost the reverse strategy of the Martingale system, the Paroli method plays out like this. Make a small bet of say ₹10 on the same group of 1:1 bets as laid out above. However, if you lose, this time you will stick with your original bet of ₹10. But if you win, you will double the bet to ₹20, hoping that you’ve hit a winning streak. Keep playing this strategy until you feel like you’ve won enough and you don’t want to potentially risk the lot with more doubled bet. Also, it’s worth mentioning that the majority of Paroli players will only double up three times before returning to the original lower bet. That seems sensible as your losses won’t be too heavy.
